New Artwork – Lotus 38 1965 Indy 500 Winner
The Lotus 38 was the model number of the car driven by Jimmy Clark at the 1965 Indy 500. By winning the race that year car builder Lotus and Lotus designer Colin Chapman, along with engine builder Ford proved the superiority of a light mid engine car over the heavy front engine roadsters that were common at Indy in the early 60s. To add insult to injury, green was thought to be unlucky by Indy traditionalist.
New Artwork – Cold Start
“Cold Start” is another in a series from Blessing of the Bikes in Baldwin, MI. The Blessing is the first Sunday after Mother’s Day, not always the warmest weather. This is from the 08 Blessing and it was in the 40’s early that morning. It does not stop the crowd that comes to be blessed. The money raised supports 3 county food banks for the coming year. I am struck how many events are held to help those in need. The bikers pour in by the hundreds sometime thousands, donate, enjoy, and ride away, no thanks needed. They are a very special community.

The car is coloured pencil but the background and black foreground is acrylic paint.
Note that the pic is a digital photo of the work and thus not 100% representative. (the paper is still slightly wavy!) I look forward to the scan and resulting giclee print.
New Artwork – The Fanny Bay Inn
A great place to ride the bike for a beer, the Fanny Bay Inn is a landmark on the old Island Highway the bike is a blend of all that went by.
