Thunder in the Heartland …
A few images that I have worked on and posted before ….combined into a new America scene.
Vintage Hill Climb
Spent two days at Prescott – a beautiful venue in the UK. It was a VSCC meet with some spectacular cars – including a 1905 200HP Darracq land speed record car. I drew pretty much all the way through 2 days and really enjoyed myself. I’m starting to get to grips with the watercolours and am finally managing to do work I’m pleased with.
PDL Mustang II
In the 1970’s the PDL Electrical company here in NZ created this awesome Mustang.
It was was built by PDL staff and friends in the workshop of PDL racing in Christchurch. Its stunning appearance for the era was backed up by its performance as Timaru driver Leo Leonard blitzed the opposition and set lap records throughout the country. When it last raced competitively in 1979 it held the outright saloon car lap records at Pukekohe, Bay Park, Manfeild, Wigram, Ruapuna, Timaru and Teretonga. The engine is of six litres capacity (366 cu inches), based on one of the rare aluminium Cleveland blocks and developed 540 bhp. A truly great iconic NZ race car which can still be seen in NZ historic meetings.

312T Concept Sketch
Here is a small concept sketch rendered in gouache, with Gilles at the helm of his 312T. This will be projected up onto a 40 x 30 canvas and the result will hopefully match what I have attained here in terms of a loose feel and movement.
Artwork Review

Done on A3 with colour pencils and for the black areas I used marker. The original colour was blue, but I thought a Candy Apple red and silver/grey would suite the car better. As I like playing around with backgrounds, I thought an abstract backround would work well.
Originally I had a T-Shirt design in mind when doing this – perhaps it could still work.
