About The Artist:
I’ve been around Muscle Cars my whole life, and as a kid I was inspired by CARtoons magazine, Dave Deals “Zingers”, “Odd Rods” collector cards, Big Daddy Ed Roths “Rat Fink”, and so much more. I’ve been drawing since I was old enough to hold a crayon, and after a few years of various jobs in the working world, I thought I would spare myself further frustration and try doing something I actually enjoyed!

Its been challenging, but I have yet to find anything that beats the life of a “Starving Artist (living in a van down by the river)”. Im grateful that others enjoy my artwork, and Im able to do what I enjoy for a living. There are 8-1/2″x11″ prints available on my website, and hope to have T-shirt designs available in the near future.

About The Artist:
Vinnie is a native New Yorker who was drawing since pre-school. In his teen years he kept at it and became quite good. He started drawing his friends cars on cardboard and they loved it. In the 60’s he became a talented pinstriper, this exposed him to many local cool custom cars and motorcycles. Realizing his talent he decided to enter art school after graduation. He attended ‘The School of Visual Arts’ in New York. That got him into the slick ‘stylized’ look that his pieces reflect today.

He eventually became interested in the airbrush. He created many pieces in that medium and they started to sell well, he started doing ‘Promo Pieces’ for small automobile related firms, this developed into a graphic arts business for him. In the mid ‘80’s another artist encouraged him to look into doing computer art. At that time digital art was still a new thing, but the ‘slick look’ of the art got him. He bought his first computer (an Apple II Mac) and taught himself to illustrate with the tools these “magic boxes” had, and the “digital” bug bit him. Today he works out of his sunny Southern California digital studio creating some killer art.

It takes about 15hrs to create and complete a finished piece. He builds the images entirely on a computer screen from scratch. He uses photos or pictures for reference only. They are digitally printed on 10mil photo stock using special non fade inks. In the near future he is planning on putting these images on other products such as note cards, drink coasters, T-shirts, etc.

About The Artist:
Canadian artist Virginia Ivanicki was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, moving to Calgary, Alberta where she studied Fine Art at the very accredited Alberta College of Art and Design in the 70′s.

After moving to Vancouver, B.C. shortly after graduating, the automobile began to enter into her work; at first as part of the landscape, but soon taking up an increasingly important part of her images. In the last twenty years, the automobile has come front and center to take its place as the focal point in her work.

“I have been exploring the physical design and social significance of the automobile for several decades. I come to this particular interest in 40′s to 70′s cars honestly. Auto mechanics, body shop owners and drag and motorcycle racers are throughout my family. It’s in the genes even if I didn’t already appreciate the gorgeous extremes of line and color found in these cars that I consider works of art in themselves.”

“The cars speak of a powerful time in North America and a love of character and individualism. The common cars today are rather amorphous, allowing us to blend in to the landscape. I drove a classic for years and people always knew when I had arrived!”

Some of her textures, colors and bold attitude can be attributed to the art work she has done in the past for live action film sets, theatre sets, retail displays, magazine covers, and as a background color designer for animation. After a long career of honing her artistic skills in all these capacities, exploring an extensive list of style and medium, Virginia has settled into her passion for painting in her own exclusive style.

A prolific painter, her work glows with the over thirty years of experience that goes into every piece. Her work is powerful whether in oil, acrylic or giclee print.

“I love every painting I do, and every moment spent painting.”

Virginia has shown her work throughout the States and Canada and is collected worldwide.

About The Artist:
I’d like to tell you a little about myself. I have always loved just about anything that has wheels, and an engine to make it go. The higher the performance level, the better. I can’t work on any of them without inflicting a lot of damage to both them and myself, but I love them just the same. Another love that I have always had has been art work. I became an Art Major in college, and had every intention of completing school and then teaching sculpture (serious art work) at the junior college level. Somehow, I got sidetracked after my party (oops I mean my Junior year) and began training for an entirely different career. Okay, okay, it was a girl that derailed my plans. The decision to change careers had to do with me wishing to be able to support us both as I was finishing up college. Funny thing, the girl didn’t last very long, but the career did. I have been doing it for over 34 years and will retire in July of 2006. My formal art training always dealt with a more serious, realistic type of art work, but I’ve been cartooning for fun ever since I could hold a pencil. I attempted my first mural at the tender age of four, with a black crayon, on the hallway wall of the house I grew up in. I called it “The Unfinished Drawing“ as I was very rudely interrupted by my mother, and her fly swatter. Secretly, I think my mom liked it more then she let on, because it was still there 14 years later when my parents sold the house. Ironically, I was actually trying to draw a car when I was discovered. With Cartoons R Wayne, I can combine my love of cars with my love of drawing cartoons. I’ve now found that drawing cartoon cars is just about my favorite way to pass the time while at a drawing table.

Cartooning is still mostly a hobby for me, but it has also become a part time second job that I’ve held for over (30) years. During that time I have had a lot of very happy (and repeat) customers. I have a partial list of those customers available for anyone to contact if you would like a reference or two. This list can be emailed to you if you request it. New cartoon drawings will be added to this site as they are created, so check back often. Also, if there’s something that you want, but don’t see here, there’s a pretty good chance I have it as a black and white drawing. I currently have an inventory of over 350 cartoon cars in black and white. They are perfect for use as coloring pages.

I’ve been happily married for over 33 years (but not to the career changer mentioned above) and have three great kids. My two daughters are both married, and my oldest has given me a wonderful grandson (I highly recommend grandchildren to anyone) and my 16 year old son is also an avid car enthusiast.

I think that my traumatic experience at the age of four (my “Unfinished Drawing” mentioned above) kept me from drawing cars for a long time. Once I seriously started drawing cartoon automobiles in about 1995, I found that I really love to draw cartoon cars, trucks, motorcycles etc. I especially like drawing someone’s personal vehicle. Drawing high performance cars, muscle cars, street rods, customs, racers, and even stockers in a cartoon format is in my DNA, I just can‘t stop. As of July 2006, when I retire, I expect that drawing cartoon cars will become an even bigger part of my life and I can’t wait.
