Matt Bernal was raised in the southern California, Huntington Beach to be exact, where the so cal car culture lifestyle was inescapable . Becoming serious about the industry in high school where he won the STAR award for automotive technology, Matt began working for Wings West in Newport Beach, CA. It was at Wings West where he discovered this lifestyle can be a career and not just a hobby. Inspired by a visit with Chip Foose Matt began attending Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Art Center taught him that his talents were not silly time wasters but serious talents that few have. Inspired and driven by entrepenuers , fabricators and designers like Thom Taylor, Steve Stanford, Jesse James and Chip Foose , Matt began freelancing as an automotive designer for the aftermarket industry. Matt was picked up by Saleen Performance in 2003. For the 5 years at Saleen, Matt supervised the production of the S281 Ford Mustangs , Focus , 331 F-150 and managed production and quality control of the limited addition Parnelli Jones Mustang.

Inspired to hone his fabrication skills Matt left Saleen for Gaffoglio Family Metal Crafters. That name may not mean much too many, but, enthusiasts would know that Metal Crafters have been building concept cars for major auto manufactures for close to 25 years. While at Metal Crafters Matt had a hand in the builds of concept cars for Nissan, Dodge , Jeep and the Concept Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

After spending some time in custom shops like Shoreline Motoring and Chicane Sport Tuning Matt was asked to participate with a team of outstanding fabricators to build the very first pre-production Fisker Karma and Karma S. While at Fisker Matt had a chance to rub shoulders with cream of the crop European designers like Henrick Fisker.

Most recently Matt completed a build for Suzuki of the DELTA TUNE Suzuki Kizashi , voted one of the top 10 cars of SEMA 2009 by cargurus.com.

Artist Statement
I want the viewer to be pulled into my subject before he or she begins to think about how I got there. My automobile paintings probe into the relationships between “man and machine” combining realism and abstraction in a way that melds the familiar with the unexpected. Distorted objects reflected in the shiny surfaces create obscure images within the familiar curves of fender, chrome and headlight. When photographing the cars for painting, I often find myself reflected in the body of the car, becoming part of the object. Or is the car reflected in me, through my art? Our vehicles have become an extension of who we are and what we represent; asking the question, where does humanity end and machine begin?

Bio
Bobbie Crews is originally from Northwest Ohio, but has called Tennessee home since 1990. She works out of her studio in downtown Knoxville in the center of the arts district. Murals, portraits, design and other fine art have been her livelihood since 1993. She holds a BFA in studio art from the University of TN School of Art. Crews’ work is included in private and corporate collections nationally, in Bermuda and Africa. She works as a courtroom sketch artist, teaches workshops, and gives individual instruction in painting. She is married to Clay Thurston, an accomplished nature and wildlife photographer, who also joins Bobbie in photographing cars for her paintings. Bobbie is available to do commissioned works for clients.

About The Artist:
Bill Bravo’s creative work combines his love of automobiles, photography, and digital graphic design. His primary focus is custom designing high quality automotive portraits for people lucky enough to own a car that’s special to them.

His first step is to photograph each car very carefully and intensively. But most of the work occurs in his studio using software such as Photoshop. Bill will typically create anywhere from 20 to 50 design variations for the client to select and will work closely with the owner to finalize the look of the finished portrait.

Although he is based on northeast Pennsylvania his client base ranges across a number of states. Bill earned his BFA in graphic design at Kutztown University. Besides his commission work Bill offers a select number of prints that are available through his website.

About The Artist:
My name is Andrew Kerr, I live in Surrey British Columbia where there is always a car show on any given sunny summer day. A short ride to the local burger joint or java stop will prove that.  From this accessibility to literally any type of ride, I have became somewhat obsessed.  I don’t think that there are many people that would not agree with me, that the automobile is one of the purest, and coolest art forms in the world.

I’ve been lucky to know the people I do with the same car bug as me.  I’ve managed to come in to my own drawing these peoples cars, at local shows, and at my Surrey, B.C. Studio.  I would like to thank those people, as well the future customers I look forward to seeing.

About The Artist:
I grew up in a typical suburban New England town with an early passion for anything automotive. My mother still has the first car artwork I did at 4 years old that was recognizable.  It’s a blue tow truck.

The passion for automotive art and design has been constant and intense throughout my life. I pride myself in the ability to not only make a “pretty picture” but to create innovative design solutions that are feasible and have impact.  My work has been used by high profile and backyard builders alike to help visualize dreams, clearly communicate ideas, serve as motivation and blueprints or help to obtain sponsorship buy off.  I work to bring fabricators, painters, upholsterers and owners together on the same page to reduce project wasted time and materials. Paper is cheaper than paint and sheet metal.

I try to make my renderings as accurate as possible while keeping an artistic element to them.  Sometimes I keep proportions and perspective realistic and other times I like to add some drama to the art by posing the car in a dynamic way, making it appear more than just a pile of metal, rubber and glass.  I use mixed media to keep things fresh using traditional markers and chalk as well as completely digital illustrations. It depends on the nature of the project or the budget.  There are advantages and disadvantages to both.

About The Artist:
Ever since I can remember I liked to draw cars, I guess it stems from the influences of my Grandfather, Father, and Uncle who all loved Hot Rods and Muscle cars. So I was destined to appreciate all that the automotive world had to offer.
