About The Artist:
I blame my Nana for this! She started it all, with a ‘Matchbox’ or ‘Hot Wheels’ car every week while I was growing up……

Some design tuition along the way lead to a love of non-theoretical representational art and most everything loosely termed ‘Mid-Century’.

Blending and juxtaposing these beautiful shapes, textures and colours together with the almost limitless array of wonderful automotive forms that have been created in the past 100 years or so is where I’m at now.

I’M STILL TRYING TO CREATE THE PERFECT COLLISION!

About The Artist:
It seems I was born with brush in hand, Ive been doing some form of art since a child, sculpting and drawing came first with an artist grandmother for influence, as an adult attending the Kansas City Art Institute and State Fair Community College art program I perfected painting. Anything with speed has long been the passion that gave me fuel, so painting Motorcycles and automobiles came naturally. I have always seen the world from a different perspective and strive to reveal that insight in my work. Giclee’s are available of most of my paintings, custom commissions are also available.

About The Artist:
Matt Bernal was raised in the southern California, Huntington Beach to be exact, where the so cal car culture lifestyle was inescapable . Becoming serious about the industry in high school where he won the STAR award for automotive technology, Matt began working for Wings West in Newport Beach, CA. It was at Wings West where he discovered this lifestyle can be a career and not just a hobby. Inspired by a visit with Chip Foose Matt began attending Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Art Center taught him that his talents were not silly time wasters but serious talents that few have. Inspired and driven by entrepenuers , fabricators and designers like Thom Taylor, Steve Stanford, Jesse James and Chip Foose , Matt began freelancing as an automotive designer for the aftermarket industry. Matt was picked up by Saleen Performance in 2003. For the 5 years at Saleen, Matt supervised the production of the S281 Ford Mustangs , Focus , 331 F-150 and managed production and quality control of the limited addition Parnelli Jones Mustang.

Inspired to hone his fabrication skills Matt left Saleen for Gaffoglio Family Metal Crafters. That name may not mean much too many, but, enthusiasts would know that Metal Crafters have been building concept cars for major auto manufactures for close to 25 years. While at Metal Crafters Matt had a hand in the builds of concept cars for Nissan, Dodge , Jeep and the Concept Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

After spending some time in custom shops like Shoreline Motoring and Chicane Sport Tuning Matt was asked to participate with a team of outstanding fabricators to build the very first pre-production Fisker Karma and Karma S. While at Fisker Matt had a chance to rub shoulders with cream of the crop European designers like Henrick Fisker.

Most recently Matt completed a build for Suzuki of the DELTA TUNE Suzuki Kizashi , voted one of the top 10 cars of SEMA 2009 by cargurus.com.

About The Artist:
My professional background is that of a graphic designer with more than 25 years experience, but my passion is for the history of automobile racing.

I started collecting vintage toy racecars in the end of the 1980’s and this led to picking items, books and reference material on racing history. After a few years of more collecting and studying all this, I decided to transfer my accumulated knowledge to paper in the form of illustrations and stories. In 2007, I set up a company Automobiliart.com to market my creations.

Through my motor sports artwork, I’m trying to capture the “feeling” that the spectator has watching the race, their favorite driver in battle or the classic racecar at rest.

My favorite drivers are many; I usually have heroes from each period of racing. I love Tazio Nuvolari from the ‘30s for his passion and skill; Juan Manuel Fangio was a shy humble gentleman and artist on the track; Sir Stirling Moss, who could win in whatever he drove; Sir Jack Brabham, with his single-minded push for success as a racer and builder; and of course Gilles Villeneuve, his fearlessness and driving art, nicely summed up at Dijon in 1979.

Most of my my art is available, either as an original or a limited edition.

I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia with my wife, our two sons and a cat.

About The Artist:
Born and raised in New Jersey, Eric Soller grew up with a pencil in his hand. Throughout high school and college, a majority of his time was spent drawing, painting and printing. After graduated from the University of South Florida in 1980 with BFA in Lithography, Soller began his professional career in graphic arts, working as an illustrator and designer throughout the northeast around Portland, Maine and Boston, Massachusetts.

In early 2005, new opportunities presented Soller with access to the NASCAR world. This led him to pit road during NASCAR races, where he began photographing the eye-catching events occurring along pit road– inspiration for a series of paintings, that are currently marketed as limited edition Giclee prints through NASCAR retail channels and his website, www.ericsoller.com.

Each image is carefully composed and drawn out on 40”x 30” illustration board, then meticulously painted in gouache. Using his photographs as reference, each painting is created to capture the passion and finesse of the sport, celebrating the excitement that takes place in the pits. These paintings are created to accurately depict actual race moments, captured in time; with an attention to detail that conveys the textures, sensations and excitement of the sport.

About The Artist:
Fries Reyntjens was born in 1974 in Kortrijk, Belgium. Since childhood, He has been fascinated by cars. He has been drawing cars for as long as he can remember.

Fries attended Sint Lucas Art school in Ghent – Belgium. Where he got his master degree in Fine arts the year 2000. Since then he has been working as a graphic designer and automotive artist.

“Fries aims to create paintings that capture motor racing on it’s nostalgic best.”

The real challenge is interpreting the subject and to make an appealing image. This is obtained by skillfully manipulating the historic references, the impression of speed, the background, light and reflections…and making them stronger through color, mood, texture, composition and style. The interaction between these elements make every new painting a personal challenge. It’s a process of constantly searching and continuously evolving his work.

His goal is to create work that provides lasting pleasure and an artistic value, not only to motoring enthousiasts.

Fries has sold his paintings on various exhibitions and motorracing events in Europe. He has had several commissions for motoring related art and posters.

Commisions are accepted.

About The Artist:
Until recently I have specialised in automotive photography, covering a few races each year for magazines and websites. This year I’ve decided to occasionally put down my camera and try a pencil or pen instead.

I’m interested in events with a rich history such as Goodwood or the Le Mans Classic. With my images I hope to recapture some of the flavour of the glorious past. I also choose events which will offer unusual conditions – endurance races which run into the night and may be struck by dramatic weather. The glamour, speed, noise, smell, the dedicated teams and breathtaking engineering – all of these things I find hugely exciting and are what I try to capture with my photographs and drawings – it’s all about the atmosphere.

All the best,

About The Artist:
Richard has been drawing and painting almost since able to hold a pencil. His family background is full of artistic and engineering talent, and it was with the help of his artistically gifted aunt that Richard first became engrossed in the world of painting.

Whilst Richard remains largely self-taught, he was regarded as a gifted art student at school but was encouraged by his parents to train for a ‘proper job’ and followed a career in engineering. Consequently the artistic ambitions remained but purely on a spare time basis. From the age of about ten years Richard took an interest on motor racing and aviation, following visits to air shows and motor racing meetings it was inevitable that this interest transferred itself into his early drawing and painting efforts. Much later it was undoubtedly the combination of Richard’s engineering and artistic talents that were to prove pivotal in his artist career, his painting becoming increasingly admired for their high level of accuracy and meticulously researched technical detail.

Richard’s first public art display was at the historical site of Brooklands Motor Course in 1982. Encouraged by the success of this first show he repeated his displays at the venue for several years. Since those early successful showings, Richard has exhibited at many prestigious venues, from specialist London galleries to a restaurant in Monaco and an exhibition in Connecticut USA. More recently Richard has become very much part of the motoring art establishment, his work is regularly featured as part of group shows at well-known motor sporting venues such as Silverstone and Goodwood. After well over twenty years in the business Richard’s work graces many private collections worldwide.

Motoring enthusiasts may recognise Richard’s work from his Christmas card paintings for the UK motor industry benevolent charity ‘BEN’. Richard is a great supporter of this worthwhile cause and has worked closely with them since 1989. His card designs are highly sort after and each year continue to raise much-needed funds for the charity. Richard has been involved in many other projects for BEN including limited edition prints, newspaper adverting and brochure covers. Many of his original paintings have also raised money for BEN at auction.

He has become accepted in all spheres of transport art with his aviation and marine subjects receiving ever-increasing attention. It is not unusual to find Richard’s paintings using a combination of subjects land, sea and air in a single painting. Richard often returns to his original love of landscape and architecture for inspiration and often marks a special visit to a memorable location by committing a scene to canvas.

About The Artist:
Roy Scorer was born in 1965 and after secondary school attended the Portsmouth College of Art and Design for 4 years gaining a Diploma in Technical Illustration.

He had an interest from an early age in motorsport as when he was 4-6 years old his father used to race saloon stockcars. This keenness in short circuit oval racing continued as a young man and was a frequent attendee at Aldershot stockcar stadium.

He combined his art and stock car interests to sell paintings and prints to drivers and the public from an old hut at the stadium. These featured images of the drivers and cars of the time ranging from banger racing to National Hot Rods. His work was also featured as the front cover for the Year Book for ‘Short Circuit’ magazine in 1987-1988.

The stockcar art sales at the circuit ended around 1989 when the great storm blew away the hut. This led to a decision to expand his art into the whole field of motorsports and exhibition at the Racing Car Show. He also started making paintings of racing trucks, as his father was racing, which led to contacts and commissions.A further change of direction saw Roy painting gaming miniatures and winning a national competition in 1995.

Currently Roy works for the Ministry of Defence as a Technical Illustrator but he is still very keen on motorsport illustration, albeit computer generated rather than the traditional paint and brush. In his spare time he is working on 3-dimensional ghosted images and side profiles of stockcars.
