About The Artist:
Born and bread in New Zealand down under I did my time as automotive spray painter. I did that for 10 years and gave it up for health reasons.

At college I was the kid in the back of maths class drawing cars in the back of my maths book hehe. I have always had a passion for Hot rods, cars, trucks and bikes. So a man and his car, you gotta love that combo deal!

I do custom automotive illustrations. A great way to capture that special kinda love between a man and his wheels. I take commissions to draw you and your wheels. I also do posters, Logos, T- shirt design and even design tattoos!!

I have big influences in my art career, the likes of Ed Roth : ), Thom Taylor, Steve Stanford hey the list goes on All American car artists and I love America. I’m sure I grew up in the wrong part of the world. Just cool car culture etc. I think I would do well over there.

PS: YOU DRIVE IT I”LL DRAW IT!!

About The Artist:
Matt Bernal was raised in the southern California, Huntington Beach to be exact, where the so cal car culture lifestyle was inescapable . Becoming serious about the industry in high school where he won the STAR award for automotive technology, Matt began working for Wings West in Newport Beach, CA. It was at Wings West where he discovered this lifestyle can be a career and not just a hobby. Inspired by a visit with Chip Foose Matt began attending Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Art Center taught him that his talents were not silly time wasters but serious talents that few have. Inspired and driven by entrepenuers , fabricators and designers like Thom Taylor, Steve Stanford, Jesse James and Chip Foose , Matt began freelancing as an automotive designer for the aftermarket industry. Matt was picked up by Saleen Performance in 2003. For the 5 years at Saleen, Matt supervised the production of the S281 Ford Mustangs , Focus , 331 F-150 and managed production and quality control of the limited addition Parnelli Jones Mustang.

Inspired to hone his fabrication skills Matt left Saleen for Gaffoglio Family Metal Crafters. That name may not mean much too many, but, enthusiasts would know that Metal Crafters have been building concept cars for major auto manufactures for close to 25 years. While at Metal Crafters Matt had a hand in the builds of concept cars for Nissan, Dodge , Jeep and the Concept Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

After spending some time in custom shops like Shoreline Motoring and Chicane Sport Tuning Matt was asked to participate with a team of outstanding fabricators to build the very first pre-production Fisker Karma and Karma S. While at Fisker Matt had a chance to rub shoulders with cream of the crop European designers like Henrick Fisker.

Most recently Matt completed a build for Suzuki of the DELTA TUNE Suzuki Kizashi , voted one of the top 10 cars of SEMA 2009 by cargurus.com.

About The Artist:
I was born in Maryville, Tn. in 1955. I was interested in art at the age of 4 years old. As my mother would sit and do sketches for me, I would sit along side her and watch. From that point on I knew what I was going to do with my life. I went to the University of Tennessee in 1975 and spent 3 years there working towards a BFA, but decided I had enough of school, lacking 24 hours towards graduating. So, I went to work in a small graphics firm in Oak Ridge, Tn., but I couldn’t make enough money, so I landed a job with Union Carbide Corp. Nuclear Div. I worked there for 3 years doing charts and graphs with a smattering of illustration thrown in. This wasn’t my idea of art.

I am a huge fan of the automobile as an art subject. At this time I was having some success at doing spot art illustrations for Road & Track Magazine. I read the magazine considerably, and one issue came out with a story about Tony Lapine, chief stylist for Porsche Auto then. He was an immigrant come to this country and ended up in Detroit to work in the auto industry. He climbed the corporate ladder with G.M. and ended up being chief stylist for them in Europe. From there he was hired away by Porsche, and said how much he appreciated the American people helping him along the way and giving him a chance.

I read this story with great interest and decided I was going to try and get a job with Porsche designing cars, thinking Tony might see in me the same thing he went through. I spent a year and a half drawing and designing cars. Even though I had no background in auto design, I figured it was time to take a shot. I sent a letter along with my portfolio I had contrived and with great surprise, I was hired. This was a great blessing to me, even working there for a short time.

After working there, I came back to the states and ended up in Florida. I went to work at Martin-Maretta Corp. working as an illustrator in the aerospace industry for 18 months. I, one day, was reading the classified section of the newspaper, I spied an ad for an architectural illustrator. Again, I had no experience in this field, but I wanted to try it. Again, I was hired and started learning another industry. I worked for them for 13 months and had started getting freelance work. So, it was time to move on again. I have been doing freelance now for 25 years with one interim of working with another architect for 18 months. I was let go from there 2 years ago because of this economic downturn. I’m back at my freelancing again and thats where I am today. Instead of architecture, I am back to the automobile, my first love, as a subject for my art.

About The Artist:
I grew up in the American Midwest, in the rural farming community of Industry, Illinois. My artistic interests come mainly from my mother. She’s always creative, and taught art K-12 for many years. I blame my father for my love of cars. He’s owned a dozen convertibles, and several other interesting vehicles. Apparently, this condition can be inherited.

As a student, I entertained myself drawing cars and unflattering cartoons of my teachers. This inspired comments like,“That’s nice, but how will you earn a living after graduation?” Well, I kept drawing and soon earned a commercial art degree from Western Illinois University. I have since pursued an art career, and worked for Disney and Universal Studios. I still like to diagram sentences and solve algebraic word problems, but these days, if I want to pay the mortgage, I have to draw cars.

My Mac experience began when I accepted a job designing billboards. At that time, I also started illustrating and writing a monthly feature for Mike Kelly’s Cruise News, a regional car magazine. These columns profiled significant people and events in automotive history. I recommend this experience to any artist looking for greater exposure. It got me used to meeting deadlines, and the research provided me with a better understanding of automotive history. My only regret is that without exception, each subject deserves more attention than time or space allowed. If you read any of my stuff, I encourage you to learn more about each subject elsewhere.

Lately, I hang my hat at Daytona Trophy, and spend my days in the shadow of the Daytona International Speedway, creating original art for automotive events nationwide. Apple computers are essential to my work. I use an iMac at home, and a dandy new G5 at work. The applications I use most are Freehand, and Photoshop. I use these to prepare the art, and GoLive to build and maintain my website. In addition to my nine-to-five job, freelance work keeps me increasingly busy at home, in DeLand, Florida.

About The Artist:
My name is Andrew Kerr, I live in Surrey British Columbia where there is always a car show on any given sunny summer day. A short ride to the local burger joint or java stop will prove that. From this accessibility to literally any type of ride, I have became somewhat obsessed. I don’t think that there are many people that would not agree with me, that the automobile is one of the purest, and coolest art forms in the world.

I’ve been lucky to know the people I do with the same car bug as me. I’ve managed to come in to my own drawing these peoples cars, at local shows, and at my Surrey, B.C. Studio. I would like to thank those people, as well the future customers I look forward to seeing.

About The Artist:
I grew up in a typical suburban New England town with an early passion for anything automotive. My mother still has the first car artwork I did at 4 years old that was recognizable. It’s a blue tow truck.

The passion for automotive art and design has been constant and intense throughout my life. I pride myself in the ability to not only make a “pretty picture” but to create innovative design solutions that are feasible and have impact. My work has been used by high profile and backyard builders alike to help visualize dreams, clearly communicate ideas, serve as motivation and blueprints or help to obtain sponsorship buy off. I work to bring fabricators, painters, upholsterers and owners together on the same page to reduce project wasted time and materials. Paper is cheaper than paint and sheet metal.

I try to make my renderings as accurate as possible while keeping an artistic element to them. Sometimes I keep proportions and perspective realistic and other times I like to add some drama to the art by posing the car in a dynamic way, making it appear more than just a pile of metal, rubber and glass. I use mixed media to keep things fresh using traditional markers and chalk as well as completely digital illustrations. It depends on the nature of the project or the budget. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.
