David feels “every picture tells a story. I like telling stories about people and their memories”. The themes of each painting is fueled by his own fondness for the past, determined to recreate the past as a way of preserving it. “I start each painting with a theme and I’m often adding details to the very end!” The final piece is the collection of memories, stories, love of history and historical accuracy. “I’m not actually trying to recreate a photo but what the mind’s eye remembers”.
