About The Artist:
Australian born from Greek origins, l grew up in the countryside surrounded by vineyards and open space. As child l spend most time expressing my love and drawing cars. Living with Muscular Dystrophy and the desire for drawing had not preventing me from enrolling and completing a course in drafting and architecture. However it wasn’t before l returned to my roots and automotive art became the focus of my passion.
Self-taught, with the use of a paint brush and the five basic colours l work with the painting laid flat on a table. I have mastered a special technique using acrylic painting on illustration board and canvas where my photorealism style is often mistaken for airbrush. Working with photographs each painting takes around 8 weeks to produce. My fascination with reflection is displayed with richness and controlled accurate attention to create dramatic light within photorealism work. With distinguishing brush strokes, my artistic output to date reflects my interest in historical and contemporary automotive art. I have become fascinated with that discipline‘s precise style of representation and sharp eye for detail. In the year 2000 l moved to Hanover Germany, where l live together with my wife Julia and have established a career as an artist.
In 2001 l was invited for the first European Concourse d’Elegance in Schwetzingen, Germany. In 2002 l was given the honour to produce the poster for the Villa d’Este concourse and was also the first artist to exhibit during the event in Italia (which is now an on-going event). It was at this time Mr Giorgetto Giugiaro from Italdesign commissioned me for a private painting of the Alfa Brera. In 2005 my work developed as l was invited to the Middle East International Motor Show in Dubai which lead me to work for one of the most promoted clients in Dubai. Unfortunately in 2008 l had to cancel the Meadow Brook Concourse d’Elegance, however l have been given the pleasure once again to bring my work for the 2009 event.
As self-taught automotive artist, l never have driven a car due to my disability. I have devoted my life passion to transform a style into a creation for the car to be seen as a rolling sculpture. My enthusiasm for automotive art has inspired me to view the object and its construction as an independent and dynamic form of art itself. I am best known for my development and direction towards analysing a portion of the car representing its dynamic structure.
Other than cars, my work includes: Australian & Greek landscapes, wild life, company logos, abstract and portraits. With over 60 exhibitions and 32 awards; my work has widely been collected throughout 3 continents and featured in a variety of magazines, Ferrari world, Street & Hot Rod Machine and The Rob Report.
