A Painting Just For You – CAR ART, Inc.

CAR ART, Inc – June Newsletter 2010

Car Art was incorporated eight years ago this week, on June 13th, 2002. A common question since then is `How much will it cost to do a painting of my car?

Price
With 70 artists to choose from, there is no set figure. As shown on our Commissions page, pricing depends on three variables:
1. Artist`s reputation
2. Size of artwork
3. Complexity
The typical range is $500 to $9,000 but the very top automotive artists can charge $20,000 or more. The average price though is around $3,000 — an investment that produces an admired centerpiece and a cherished heirloom for generations to come.

Procedure and Examples
After we agree on the artist, size, content and price, the procedure is simple:
1. You send us reference photos
2. You get sketches for approval
3. You get your finished painting!
To give you a feel for the type and variety of commissions undertaken by our artists, at the left are shown some recent examples. The car at the top belongs to a client in England who said: `I know that as clients we may have been a little demanding, but the result is a classic.

Size and Purpose
An average size is perhaps 20×30 ins., but our artists have been commissioned for everything from 11×10 ins. to 12×65 ft.! The former was an illustration for a major company`s magazine; the latter a mural for the Automotive Hall of Fame. In between we have created original art for a variety of reasons, eg: as a Father`s Day gift, to commemorate a Le Mans-winning car, a marriage, even a record-breaking airplane! Most commonly, it is to immortalize a favorite car …sometimes by its designer!
