Recognize this work?
We were recently contacted by automotive art enthusiast who came across this poster. It is signed by the artist “B. Ware” and was done in 1978. The driver is named “Gordy” getting into his North American Van Lines sponsored Formula 1 car.
This person is hopes to find out more information about the artist and the possible value of the work.

Are you sure it is F-1? around that time there were other open wheel racing series like Formula 5000 even Indy car.

You’re right, we just got an email from artist Ron Burton who also said it was Indy car. Ron said it would OK to post his email so below is what he emailed us.
Ron wrote:
“I used to know the artist B.Ware but it was a long time ago. His mother used to work at the Speedway and there is a very large painting of A J Foyt’s 1977 pit stop hanging very prominetely in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. The painting you are showing is of Gordon Johncock in a Indy car, not F-1. The person centered behind the car is George Bignotti, the Chief Mechanic Team Manager of the Pat Patrick owned North American Van Lines Wildcat Special.”
